Ardenwood Historic Farm, an East Bay Regional Park, is a working farm with a lovely Victorian mansion dating from the 1850’s.  It is also a great place to go birding!  Many species are attracted to the farm's mixture of habitats from pines to redwoods to eucalyptus forest, open farm fields to landscaped grounds with flowers and fountains.  Woodpeckers and sapsuckers, warblers and sparrows, Steller’s Jays and raptors are likely, and there is always the chance of a rarity here.  This is one of the few spots left in the Fremont area where Tri-Colored Blackbirds may still be seen. We’ll wander the grounds on paved and dirt paths to see what we can find.  Meet at the entrance gate. To reach the park from I-880 take SR-84 towards the Dumbarton Bridge.  Exit at Ardenwood Blvd. and turn right; the farm will be on your right.  Fee $3; free to East Bay Parks annual pass holders. Rain cancels.
