Come explore Quarry Lakes for wintering and resident birds. Pelicans, grebes, geese, ducks, cormorants, and gulls are found on the lakes, while the trees hold woodpeckers, kinglets, warblers, and more. Bald Eagles arrived in 2015, and it's not unusual to see Osprey. We'll be on the lookout for early spring arrivals.
Be prepared to walk about 2 1/2 miles on flat, gravel paths. Scopes are helpful. Parking fee is $5 unless you have an EBRPD pass. Heavy rain cancels. Pre‑registration is not required.
Directions:
From I-880: Exit at Decoto Rd. and go east. Turn right on Alvarado-Niles Rd. Turn right on Osprey Dr., then left on Quarry Lakes Dr.
From Mission Blvd: Turn west onto Decoto Rd. Turn left on Alvarado-Niles, then follow the directions as above. The entrance to the park is on the left. After passing the kiosk, turn right and drive to the far end of the parking lot. We will meet at the demonstration garden.
