Islands in the Sun –
Birding in the Caribbean
Bob Lewis will kick start our members
hip meeting, after our summer break, with a birding trip to Cuba, a side tr
ip to Hispaniola, and an earlier tour to Trinidad and Tobago. In short, an
overview of Caribbean Avifauna, including several endemic families with som
e quite endangered species. The islands were recently hit by hurricanes Irm
a and Maria, and there was, and still is, concern about survival of some of
these species. Bob will touch on the impact of the storms, and recovery an
d conservation efforts in some of the Important Bird Areas.
Bo
