Nestled between Vasco road and Altamont Pass, Brushy Peak is a good spot to look for wintering raptors: expect Harriers, Kites, and Kestrels, high probability of Golden Eagle. Chance of Ferruginous Hawk or Prairie Falcon. Will also look for grassland birds: Meadowlarks, Brewer’s Blackbirds, various sparrows; Loggerhead Shrike has been seen here. Roughly two miles of walking on dirt/gravel fire roads with a few steep sections. Be prepared for mud!

Please carpool if possible; while parking is adequate, the road in is not really suitable for a high volume of traffic. Vault toilets at the parking area. Rain cancels, as does wind advisory.
