She has also been a contributing lecturer in the International Course on Sensory Ecology at Lund University in Sweden since 2008. She is currently a professor of animal behavior at the University of California at Davis. She lives on a rural property in Winters, California, that she shares with her husband, Marcel Losekoot, along with an extended family of emus, chickens, geese, peacocks, and various other avian friends.
