We’ll meet at Martinelli Center in eastern Alameda County and bird for about an hour around the area, including the Master Gardener’s Native Plant Demonstration Garden. Hummingbirds, woodpeckers, Western Meadowlark and raptors are expected. In the past we’ve seen a Great Horned Owl and hope to find it again. We’ll then caravan about 10 minutes west to Veterans Park on Arroyo Road in Livermore ($5 parking fee payable at kiosk). The woodlands may reveal wrens, woodpeckers, and maybe a resident Barn Owl. A pond at the golf course on the way to the park is also excellent for water-fowl. The field trip will end at Veterans Park. Meet at 8:30 AM at Martinelli Center, 3585 Greenville Rd., Livermore. On I-580 East, take the Greenville exit and follow Greenville past the Lawrence Livermore Lab and Sandia. The Center is on your right, with two large palm trees and some grape vines. Heavy rain cancels.
